The reason of this descision is the recent acquisition of the MotoGP TV rights which only cover a territory of Austria. Satellite TV users can receive the channel with the ORF SAT smartcard required for decryption.

Servus TV is a great FTA source for ice hockey fans having satellite TV equipment. Servus TV covers German and Austrian top tier hockey leagues every Sunday.

In January 2016, Servus TV has made a deal with Moto GP rights holder, to show live coverage of every race next year. The deal includes also online and mobile rights in Austria.

The Servus TV for German audience will remain unencrypted via Astra 19.2°E satellite position and channels will show different programmes during the Moto GP coverage
