FOOTBALL

Premier League 

Premier League, FA, EFL and WSL have decided to postpone matches in England until 4 April.  

Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: “In this unprecedented situation, we are working closely with our clubs, Government, The FA and EFL and can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority.”

Bundesliga

The Executive Committee of the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga postponed first Matchday 26 of the Bundesliga and the Bundesliga 2, and then a few days after, they suspended games until 2 April. 

DPA Agency claims that Bundesliga financial losses will be even bigger than 750 million euro if the championship doesn’t continue.

Bayern president, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is afraid that small clubs won’t survive the crisis because they live from tv rights. 

Serie A

Italian Footballers’ Association president Damiano Tommasi said the Serie A season could resume in May or June if it all goes well. Serie A had first several matches behind closed doors, but due to the situation, they had to postpone it. Italians are afraid that the season could continue until next year because some clubs have more matches left. 

Ligue 1

On Friday 13 the Ligue 1 Conforama and Domino’s Ligue 2 championships immediately and until further notice. 

French Football League (LFP) president Nathalie Boy de la Tour has told French TV she is “convinced the season will be played to a finish” despite Ligue 1 play being suspended until further notice as a consequence of the coronavirus outbreak. 

There are still ten Ligue 1 Conforama games to be played this season, while Paris Saint-Germain and RC Strasbourg Alsace have 11, in addition to the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue finals.

“I think there are a lot of alternative solutions that might exist, but I’m not thinking about them because I’m convinced we’ll go to the end of the championship, and we’re now giving ourselves the means to do that,” she told BeIN SPORTS on Saturday. 

“There are still a lot of weeks ahead of us, and we have the opportunity to play several games a week. So there are alternative solutions that will enable us to finish it and it’s those that we are giving priority to.”

La Liga

Referring to the quarantine established in Real Madrid and the possible cases in players from other clubs, LaLiga following the measures established in Royal Decree 664/1997 of May 12, it agrees to postpone at least the next two matchdays.

Said decision will be re-evaluated after the completion of the quarantines decreed in the affected clubs and the other possible situations that may arise.

TENNIS

Tennis world first cancelled the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells scheduled for begining of March. Very soon they announced suspendion until April 20, which affects ATP Tour events in: Miami, Houston, Marrakech, Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Bundapest. On the WTA, Miami, Charleston and Bogota have been cancellled.
